Gun Carrier

This is the gun carrier that was manufactured by Frost & Woods during the 2nd World War and that Bill was partly responsible for. For many years I thought this was a picture of the actual gun, but while restoring the image I realized that wheels, towbar and frame are arranged to only look like a gun.

Not sure if that was deliberate or not.

  1. I believe this is the amunition limber for a 25 pounder field gun. It was towed by a Quad Tractor (4 whl drive truck with seating for the gun crew) & the gun was connected to the rear of the limber. This picture shows the limber wheels before they were installed. The ammuntion was accessed from the rear face (right hand end of picture.
